The municipalities are responsible for averting or eliminating unsanitary conditions and prevent diseases, planning and arranging for monitoring of drinking water and air and water pollution, street cleaning and refuse collection. The municipalities are also entrusted with land use planning, mainly for housing and industrial construction, schools etcetera.
The Building committee

The Environment and health care committee
Danderyd's companies are inspected to make sure that they follow the environmental code as well as the codes concerning the handling of food stuffs. Other important parts are the protection of animals and nature. The committe authorizes applications based on an environmental aspect. Other questions that the committee handles concerns the health of the inhabitants of Danderyd which can concern anything from food, drinking water, in door environment and noise levels.
